Your right just because he’s scoring under the San Jose system doesn’t mean he will in the US set up, San Jose play a free flowing game which is great & its wonderful to watch but the US national team is not Brazil or Spain yet, they need to be solid & a defence first team if they wish to go forward & win promotion to the World Cup in 2014 alsi against the big boys the free flowing stuff will be punished mercilessly. Totally agree. Wondo just knows how to take advantage of the MLS’ biggest weakness: Fuck awful marking. He has absolutely no idea what to do against actually skilled defenders.
Just because Wondo is having a good season doesn’t mean he is capable of scoring at will with the US. MLS is no where NEAR as competitive as national play. Just because one guy is having a good season, doesn’t mean we should jump on the bandwagon and remodel our tactics just for 1 man. We need a solid team who know each other, especially when we are trying to qualify for the WC. In a friendly, yes bring on Wondo, but in a game that matters, no. If he fails he’ll just be the next scapegoat.
