LANDON NAMED IN SQUAD

The skipper of Los Angeles Galaxy, Landon Donovan, has been included in the USA team for the friendly match against Mexico which is going to be held on 15th of August. The manager of USA team, Jurgen Klinsmann, has included five strikers in the team and Donovan is one of them. So, Danovan, who has scored the most number of goals for USA in the international matches, would not be able to play for Galaxy against Columbus Crew. That match is also scheduled on 15th of August.

Many young players are selected in the USA squad for this match and Danovan is one of the few experienced players who have found a place in the squad. After being selected in the squad, Danovan said that nothing is more important than playing for the country. He is happy that he has got a place in the side and it would be wonderful to represent US again. On being asked about the Mexico team, he said that Mexico is a fantastic team and they have shown that in the London Olympics. Winning the Gold medal in the Olympics is not easy by any means. And, also, the Mexico team would be playing on their home soil. So, it would be tough for the relatively inexperienced US team to give a tough fight to Mexico.

In the last few days, there have been reports that Danovan might announce his retirement at the end of this season. On being asked about that, Danovan said that he hasn’t taken any decision about the retirement yet. At the end of the season, he would re-assess the things and then decide whether he should continue playing or not. As per Danovan, he is losing his interest in the game which might prompt him to retire at the end of this season.
