RODGERS JOINS LA
Robbie Rogers, who openly admitted in his blog a few weeks ago that he was gay, has been training with LA Galaxy for the last few sessions. LA Galaxy star Landon Donovan has said that it is great to have him around the team and he would be extremely happy with the club went out and signed him. Rogers went into retirement immediately after his announcement. He has not been in football for the last two months, but he appeared to be relaxed along with his teammates at LA Galaxy’s training session. He is currently contracted with Chicago Fire who took him during the off-season.
LA Galaxy need to work hard in order to bring Rodgers up to speed, as he has not played the game for the last four months. He has represented Leeds united and Stevenage in a career that saw him grace English football as well. However, he has not played a game since leaving Leeds United four months ago by mutual consent. This was followed by the open revelation about his sexuality, which prompted a huge debate. LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena has said that he has been looking fitter and sharper than ever before, which is good considering that he has spent a considerable amount of time away from the game.
“It was fun to play with him. He’s been out awhile, so it’s going to take him a while to get back into it, and he would admit that, but hopefully he does well. My personal hope is that we’ll sign him and that they can find out a way to work a trade with Chicago. I think beyond the immediate soccer part, I think there’s much bigger positive consequences that can come from that, and we’re all hopeful that he’ll get fit and play well and that Bruce [Arena] wants to sign him,” said Donovan.

The LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena has said that he is extremely confident that the star striker Landon Donovan will return to the team at the start of the new season. The 30-year-old recently claimed that he will be taking an indefinite break from the game, while also questioning the possibility of taking part in the 2014 FIFA World Cup if the US qualify for this tournament. This has led to suspicions that the 30-year-old will be announcing a premature retirement from football. Donovan has been playing non-stop football for the last few seasons, as he has spent the break period at in the MLS on loan at the Premier league club Everton.
In his quest to achieve a lot in the game, Donovan has not been utilising the break from the MLS season. Donovan recently helped LA Galaxy achieve triumph in the 2012 MLS cup. There have been suggestions that he would announce his international retirement shortly. The US national team manager Jurgen Klinsmann has said that he will give Donovan all the time he wants to decide on his future. Bruce Arena, though, believes that Donovan is likely to come back to the LA Galaxy team at the start of the new 2013 season despite missing the first day of pre-season.
“We’ve given him a little bit more time off. He’s definitely playing this year, just working out a return date that makes sense for all of us. I thought he was going to come back, I think he just needs an extended leave of absence. He’s had a couple years that have taken its toll. Donovan, like any player, needs the right time of preseason to get ready to play. The longer he takes off, it’s going to take him a longer period of time to be ready to play,” said Arena.

LANDON LEFT IN USA
The Everton manager David Moyes looks set to be disappointed in his efforts to bring the LA Galaxy striker Landon Donovan to the Merseyside in the January transfer window. Everton have had a lot of success with the American International in two loan deals over the last two seasons. However, it is thought that the 30-year-old striker is looking for a break from the game, which has even made him admit that he is not sure that the prospect of playing in the 2014 FIFA World Cup with the national team. In search of a break from the game, he is expected to not go out on loan deals during this transfer window.
Landon Donovan recently admitted that he has been playing non-stop football over the past couple of seasons, which have taken a toll on his interest in the game. The 30-year-old had a lot of success at Everton even though he spent no more than two months in his loan spells. Donovan has also struggled with a lot of injury problems this season. He has suffered numerous hamstring and ankle injuries so far this campaign. However, he helped his team win the MLS title for the second consecutive season along with David Beckham, who has left the club.
“I’m going to take as much time as I need and decide if and when I’m ready to come back. I can’t put a time frame on that. If it takes two weeks and I’m ready to go again or two months or a year or two years. Or never. I don’t know. I’m aware of what I’m feeling, what I’m going through. And if I wake up one day and I say, ‘you know what? I’m going to come back and play’, then I’ll be here within an hour,” said Landon Donovan.

The LA Galaxy striker Landon Donovan has said that he is not sure whether he wants to play for the United States national team at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The United States is one of the favourites to qualify for this competition due to the strength in depth have within the squad and also due to the experience of the manager Klinsmann. Landon Donovan is undoubtedly one of the best players for the national team, but he has said that he is extremely worn out playing football over the last few years have consistent basis that he is considering not playing at the World Cup.
Landon Donovan spent two seasons on loan at Everton during the January transfer window. Normally, it is the off-season in the MLS, but Donovan continued playing football. He recently admitted that he is unlikely to return to Everton this season because he wants a break from football. The 2014 FIFA World Cup is one of the prestigious tournaments during a calendar year, but Donovan has said that there is only a 50-50 chance of him playing for the United States national team at this tournament. Donovan has scored 49 goals in the 144 matches he has played for the country.
“If I’m not enjoying playing any more, the World Cup is the last thing on my mind. I need to make sure that I’m enjoying playing every day. If I’m not enjoying it, none of that stuff really matters. And your body’s going to tell you it’s time to take a break and that’s what my body has done this year, there’s no question. When you’re not part of the team all the time, you can start to question your value and your worth there,” said Donovan ahead of the friendly matches for the US team.
